First Annual Lower Decatur Holiday Craft Bazaar – Call for Artists

The Lower Decatur Merchants Association and LowerDecatur.com are hosting the First Annual Lower Decatur Holiday Craft Bazaar November 11th and December 16th from 10am to 6pm. The event will take place on the 1100-1300 blocks of Decatur Street in the French Quarter. On a typical Saturday the neighborhood draws a eclectic crowd of tourists and locals visiting the French Market as well as local dining, drinking, and shopping spots. This is a free event and will be publicized to bring even more shoppers from all around the region.

Free booth space is still available to local artists. Currently signed participants include clothing designers, painters, glass blowers, photographers, jewelers, and more. Interested participants need to request space in advance by contacting Joe at (504) 861-4367 (leave a message) or email “info (at) lowerdecatur.com”. We’ll need to know what sort of merchandise you will have, how much space you will need, if you would like a particular location, and if you have any special needs (i.e. electricity). Please post any general questions below, so that the answers may help others.

Space is filling fast for the November Bazaar, so please don’t wait until the last minute to apply.

  1. We’ll be setting up on the sidewalk, right? Any areas that are off limits as far as booth space?

I’d prefer a spot underneath a balcony in case the weather turns yucky.

    When’s load-in? 9-ish?

  2. Yes, we will be on the sidewalk, which shouldn’t be completely obstructed. There are a couple of areas that could accomodate larger setups, but in general there will only be space for tables on the sidewalk. We will do our best to accomodate everyone.

The only areas off limits are those in front of merchants that specifically don’t want to participate in the event for whatever reason.

    Load-in will be precisely 9-ish.

    Thanks,
    Joe

  3. Ted,
Email me your space requirements and some sort of contact info and I’ll put you down for the show(s).

    Thanks,
    Joe

  4. Dr. Bob,
FunRock’n is most definately participating in the events. I do believe that Rhonda has invited some crafters to set up in front of the shop already.

    Thanks,
    Joe

  5. Hi Joe, I’m a jewelry designer (and member of New Orleans Fashion Collaborative) and wish to participate. My only requirement is that you do not put me right next to another jewelry vendor.
    Best wishes,
    Renee

  6. Renee,
You got it. All I need from you would be some sort of contact info, and which date(s) you would like to participate.

    Thanks,
    Joe

  7. Hello Joe,

How do I go about reserving a spot? I make skirts, deconstructed tops & mixed media painting…and windchimes. Also, my roommate & I do soaps and massage oils. Also, what size tables can we use. I have 2 rectangle 30’x 6′ and 2 square 3’x3′ Thanks & take care, KATE

  8. Hey Joe,

I am an artist from the northshore and am really interested in doing the art market. I am a ainter primarily, I do all my own framing on salvgaged wood from around new orleans. You can check out some of my painted stuff online. I also create wooden boxes using salvaged wood and old or forged hardware. Along with large scale wooden installation pieces. (I’ve been meaning to add this other media to my site but I haven’t gotten to it) Anyway, if you want to take a look, let me know if there is some room for another artist at the market.

    thanks,
    sarah dunn
